Musical sketches, concert appointments, assorted thoughts, addresses, outlines of lectures and essays to be written, theater and moving picture showings, train schedules, travel packing lists, lessons to be taught, meetings, reminders for special days, ideas for suitable birthday gifts, doodles while on the phone, shopping lists: the varied combination of events, encounters and planned projects in Arnold Schönberg’s life is visible from the entries in his diary.

The composer’s Estate includes diaries from the years 1900 and 1910 to 1951. The digitization and transcription project has made this extensive section of the archive accessible for research purposes and the interested public (see Image Archive).
